The Julius & Rose Adler Mason Library

A Wealth of Information and Resources

Welcome to the Julius and Rose Adler Mason Library! Generously endowed by the late Charlotte Mason in honor of her parents, our library has grown to host over 2,500 titles covering a wide array of subjects, including Jewish History, Fiction, Rabbinic literature, Holocaust, American Jewry, Music, Reference Materials, Biographies, Theology, and much more. We also frequently feature many periodicals and magazines which relate to Jewish life around the globe. Our dedicated library committee has recently completed an ambitious digital cataloguing and shelving project designed to make the library more easily accessible for visitors in search of a good book.

Our library is also home to our congregation's Book Club which meets the third Thursday of each month.  Previously discussed books include The Saturday Wife by Naomi Ragen, The Man in the White Sharkskin Suit by Lucette Lagnado, and The Girl from Foreign by Sadia Shepard.  New members are always welcome to join in with a brown bag lunch and lively conversation.

For more information on the upcoming month's title or meeting date and time, don't hesitate to contact the Temple office at (413) 442-5910 or e-mail us at templeoffice@rnetworx.com.

The Temple always welcomes and appreciates donations to our Library Fund in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special individual.  Contributions of funds and books are always acknowledged in our monthly bulletin.

The library, which is also home to the Mervin Wineberg Memorial Chapel and to the Temple's Tree of Life, is located on the first floor of our beautiful Temple.  Drop by, borrow a book and explore one of the Temple's most valuable resources!

Library News/Additions

The Library Committee is pleased to announce the creation of the England Youth Collection.

The England family has agreed to the use of the England Endowment to fund the purchase of books (and perhaps other media) to serve the young people in our school and temple community.  Our goal will be to collect Jewish materials that might not be easily found in public libraries.

The idea to approach the England family to fund this project came from Michael Duffy, Board member.  We wish to thank him and the England family for their thoughtfulness and caring concern for our youth.

Library Additions

Call It Sleep by Henry Roth was an extremely accurate representation of immigrant life in the early 1900s.  Roth used the languages and voices of the immigrants to give a realistic view of New York City life.

The book, a special recommendation from the Temple Anshe Amunim Book Club, is now available in the Temple Library.
